I wasn’t sure how I was going to proceed with depth and color on this larger scale piece so I dug through some art and painting books at home. I found inspiration in a Pop Art book that featured Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein’s color blocking techniques. Then a book I’ve had for a while called Japonisme, when Art Nouveau met Japonese block prints, all flat color with minimal palettes. So here is my version of combining all of that. I love that I have the live Orchid sitting right next to the painting, helps a lot with the color matching. I’m excited to share the final, should be finished by tomorrow!
